Thank you for your interest and engagement in The California Alliance for Student Parent Success (The Alliance), which is led by California Competes: Higher Education for a Strong Economy and EdTrust-West with support from an Advisory Committee comprising student parents and field experts.
The Alliance supports the postsecondary success and comprehensive well-being of student parents and their families. As we build a diverse membership of organizations and individuals, we invite you to apply for membership by completing and submitting the form below. You can find more information about the benefits and commitments of membership here.
We also wanted to share some good news that The Alliance’s first cosponsored bill, the GAINS for Student Parents Act (AB 2458), which addresses two of our core policy priorities (college affordability and data collection), will be heard in the Assembly Higher Education Committee on April 2, 2024. We need your help to uplift student parent needs and enable them to better afford college.
Will you join us in supporting AB 2458? There are three ways you can help:
- Organizations can submit a letter of support by March 24, 2024. Not part of an organization? Not part of an organization? Students and children of student parents can show their individual support here and faculty can show their support here.
- Join us in Sacramento for the hearing and provide public comment on April 2, 2024. The hearing starts at 1:30 p.m. in Room 437 at the State Capitol. Let California Competes Policy Director AJ Johnson know if you’ll be attending by emailing them at .
- Thank Assemblymember Berman and Senator Limón for their leadership on social media by liking and sharing these posts.
Thank you again for your interest in partnering to support student parents and their families! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warmly,
Maya Valree and Laura Szabo-Kubitz
